OPEN POSITIONS

D & P Communications is currently seeking qualified candidates for three full-time positions.  We are seeking a Technical Support Representative, Outside Plant Technician/Installer, and a Systems Administrator to join our team.  For more information about the positions please read the job descriptions below.   

 

Technical Support Representative

Technical Support Representatives utilize their skills to provide technical assistance and communicate information to customers about D & P Communications services and equipment.

Responsibilities

    • Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone, email, chat, and in person.
    • Perform troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and by asking pertinent questions.
    • Determine best solution to trouble reports using correct internal systems and processes.
    • Effectively lead the customer through the problem-solving process, maintaining a professional and courteous phone manner.
    • Provide accurate information to customers about services and timelines, properly setting expectations.
    • Record events and ongoing issues in trouble ticket logs.
    • Close out issues by updating customer status and systems information.
    • Provide customer feedback and notice of ongoing issues to team and management.
    • Participate in the provisioning and configuration of customer equipment and server profiles, as well as information upkeep, across all technologies.

Qualifications

    • Proven experience as a helpdesk technician or in another IT customer support role.
    • Demonstrable technical ability with a working knowledge of IT systems, protocols, and best practices.
    • Understanding of computer systems, devices, and how Internet and telecom services are deployed and maintained.
    • Willingness to learn and expand knowledge to provide IT support in the areas of cable, Internet, and Voice services, as well as managed IT services. Needs to be able to learn and adapt to many different deployment and troubleshooting platforms relevant to these services.
    • Ability to efficiently and effectively diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Customer oriented.
    • Degree in an IT related field preferred.

 

 

Outside Plant Technician/Installer

Outside Plant Technicians perform work associated with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of outside plant facilities and/or customer equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, move or remove telecommunication equipment, underground or building wire, cable, and associated equipment.
  • Install and troubleshoot voice, video and data services over multiple mediums.
  • Responsible for the correct, safe, and efficient locating of underground facilities. Thoroughly locate underground facilities in an area, accurately marking the location and completing the necessary paperwork.
  • Perform construction work, such as digging holes, unreeling, pulling and laying wire and cable.
  • Climb ladders to remove and rearrange equipment.
  • Operate power equipment such as chain saws and hydraulic equipment such as aerial lifts (buckets), diggers-derricks mounted on trucks, hand tools, etc.
  • Load tools and equipment onto trucks and/or trailers.
  • Working knowledge of handheld electronics, including smart phones and tablets.
  • Read and interpret engineering plans.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment and abide by all safety policies and procedures
  • Keep reports and records and perform other duties as may be assigned.
  • Perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.

Skills/Requirements

  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment during all times of the year
  • Ability to work in attics, basements, crawl spaces, and other similar places
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

 

 

Network and System Administrator

Members of the IT Department at D & P Communications bring their respective skills and specialties to form the team that is responsible for the upkeep, troubleshooting, and improvement of core networking infrastructure, service delivery platforms, computing resources, and telephony services.

Successful members of the team are eager to take on new challenges and excel in a dynamic environment where situations and priorities can change rapidly. They are team focused, creative thinkers who can plan and prioritize yet remain flexible to address the day-to-day unknowns.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain service delivery technologies including fiber to the premises, hybrid fiber-coax, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint fixed wireless
  • Over the above service delivery technologies, maintain the delivery of Internet connectivity, Metro Ethernet services, telephony services, and IP-based video services
  • Maintain servers and systems to support service delivery and business needs
  • Maintain internal systems for internal technical and general staff use
  • Undertake IT projects as assigned
  • Perform installation and configuration of new hardware in a datacenter environment
  • Serve as an escalation resource for other technicians within the company
  • Recommend improvements to existing systems and new technologies
  • Perform after-hours equipment maintenance within scheduled maintenance windows
  • Perform documentation and record keeping of current production systems and changes
  • Part of IT on-call rotation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Experience, and Training:

  • Previous experience with networking concepts such as VLANs and subnetting preferred
  • Previous experience with server administration, Linux or Windows preferred
  • Previous experience with telecommunications systems and central office switching preferred
  • Degree in an IT related field of study, or relevant industry certifications, or comparable work experience
